Lecture Series: Virginia in Rebellion 1675-1865
Interpretation Supervisor and historian, John Pagano, will explore several rebellions in Virginia’s early history. Those rebellions are Nathaniel Bacon’s Rebellion (1675-1676), The War of Independence (1775-1783), Gabriel Prosser’s Slave Rebellion (1800), Nat Turner’s Slave Rebellion (1829), and the Great Rebellion, otherwise known as the American Civil War (1861-1865). The presentation will look at the causes, participants, and results of these various rebellions in Virginia and their significance to our local and regional history. Lectures will take place in the Henricus Church. Space is limited.
