17th Century Perfume Making Demonstration
The first Perfumer arrived in Virginia in 1608 to search for New World flora! Now you can watch the process for yourself from start to finish! Visitors can see a live demonstration of steam distillation. Come and learn how a garden can be used for culinary, medicinal and cosmetic purposes. Historian Rebecca Suerdieck recreates this lost art with reproduction equipment based on local archaeological artifacts.
