“The Skie Should Sooner Fall” The Powhatan Indian Warriors and the 1622 Military Offensive

Join native interpreters and historians for a glance at reasons and tactics considered by Powhatan tribal leader Opechancanough against the English settlements on March 22, 1622. The interpreters will demonstrate the various causes for ending the 1614 peace and how the Powhatan warriors went about a day-long military offensive on that “bloodie day,” March 22, 1622, where almost 350 colonists were killed and others were taken captive. English interpreters will demonstrate the defenses against the warriors and reactions to the attacks.
