Lecture: The Revolutionary War in Chesterfield County

Two Months of Terror

Chesterfield County was invaded by two different British armies in 1781. The first in April was by a combined force led by British generals Benedict Arnold and William Phillips. The second was by Lord Cornwallis and his veteran army coming from the Carolinas. In each incursion the results were devastating, as eastern Chesterfield was burned, robbed, and destroyed. For the civilian population, it was the ultimate in terror. In several skirmishes and battles men were killed defending their homes and communities. This presentation will offer a glimpse into those relatively little-known incidents.  Lectures will take place in the Henricus Church.  Space is limited.  Tickets available online only.

COVID 19: Masks are required to be worn while inside the church and social distancing will be practiced.
