Fiddles, Fifes, and Frolics: Music of Colonial Virginia
Join our interpreters on a day of frivolity as they explore how Virginians of the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries experienced music in their daily lives.
Experience a timeline of music history as you wander through the historic site, from the first English colonists through the American Revolution and to the early half of the nineteenth century. You can see how they played and created a musical word around themselves. Maybe even try your hand at instruments from the time and see if you have what it would have taken to play music in colonial Virginia!
