Family Field Trip: Powhatan Indians

Our educators are ready to enhance the educational experience of children who are learning from home this school year by leading a SOL-aligned school program every Wednesday through Memorial Day.  This program covers several K-5 Virginia SOLs, so students can keep up with their curriculum on an individual basis.

Tour Arrohateck, a re-created Virginia Indian community once located on the James River, and experience the Eastern Woodland Powhatan Indian culture just prior to contact. Through COVID-safe hands-on activities and demonstrations, learn about farming, food preparation, hunting, fishing and cultural activities. Discover how the Powhatan Indians met their survival needs in 17th century Virginia.

Time: 1-2pm Wednesdays, 10-11am Saturdays
