Wednesday, August 10th

“Rebels on the Howlett Line” – Join living historians who will there demonstrate the various supplies offered to Confederate soldiers of General Pickett’s Division in the summer of 1864; and how those weapons, food, clothing, and gear of the Virginia soldiers serving on the Howlett Line were used to contain General Benjamin Butler’s Union Army for several months. Interpreters will show how these men cooked their rations, boiled their coffee, dug into rifle pits, and fired their muskets.

Thursday, August 11th

“Mr. Lincoln’s Army” – Join living historians who will there demonstrate the various supplies offered to Union soldiers of General Benjamin Butler’s Army of the James in the summer of 1864. The soldiers serving around Dutch Gap were a mix of infantry, engineers, heavy artillery, and eventually United States Colored Troops. Interpreters will show how these men cooked their rations, boiled their coffee, dug into their holes, and fired their muskets.
