
Civil War Week
Living history interpreters will be exploring different topics regarding the soldiers, sailors and civilians around the Varina and Dutch Gap areas from 1864 – 1865. Demonstrations will focus on:
- Weapons, clothing and gear of the Union and Confederate soldiers
- Military engineering, including the making and use of abatis, gabions, sandbags and a bombproof
- Food of the civilians of Varina, the enslaved people around Dutch Gap and the Union and Confederate soldiers.
- The role of civilians – both Northerners and local Virginians – during the war around Dutch Gap
Date: August 10-13, 2022 (Wednesday through Saturday)
Time: 12pm-4pm
Cost: $10/Adults, $8/children ages 5–12; Henricus Members free
