Family Field Trips
Henricus is now offering two programs for families most Tuesdays and Wednesdays through Memorial Day and one Saturday per month! Theses programs cover several K-5 Virginia SOLs, so students can keep up with their curriculum on an individual basis. Many teachers also offer extra credit for students attending programs like these! Online registration is required.

Cultures Collide in 17th-Century Virginia
What happens when two cultures collide? Discover how English colonists interacted and coexisted with the Powhatan Indians in the early days of the Virginia colony. Join a costumed guide on an interactive tour of Henricus Historical Park’s English fort and settlement. Participate in COVID-friendly simulations in trade and bartering, colonial jobs, and life on the farm.

People of the River: The Powhatan Indians
Tour Arrohateck, a re-created Virginia Indian community once located on the James River, and experience the Eastern Woodland Powhatan Indian culture just prior to contact. Through COVID-safe hands-on activities and demonstrations, learn about farming, food preparation, hunting, fishing and cultural activities. Discover how the Powhatan Indians met their survival needs in 17th century Virginia.
