17th Century Cultures

Our recreated Powhatan Indian site of Arrohateck and the Citie of Henricus interpret the history, technology, economics, politics, and environmental resources of these two 17th-century cultures as they lived side by side on Virginia’s James River.

"The re-enactors showed strong mastery of their content, professionalism and clear experience in working with a diverse group of middle schoolers. If it is feasible we absolutely will be coming back next year, and the greatest testament to our experience came from the high number of children (many who are not history lovers) who expressed how much fun they had and how much they learned on the trip."

To enhance your learning objectives, multiple programs may be booked to run consecutively. If you are interested in booking a field trip at Henricus, please complete the Field Trip Booking Form to get started and an educator will contact you as soon as possible to complete your program reservation.
