Discovery Days

Discovery Days are three-hour programs designed for children ages 3-12 and their parents. All programs run from 10am-1pm and include a story, interactive tour of our living history site, and a make-and-take craft!  

Registration is required; please call (804) 318-8797. 

Cost: $12/child, $8/adult; Henricus Patrons: $9/child with up to two free accompanying adults, $5/additional adult

Summertime in the 17th Century

How did Powhatan and English families spend the long days of summer?  Join us as we tend the crops, play games, and celebrate the season with hands-on activities!  Program will include a story, interactive tour of our living history site, and a make-and-take craft.

Water, Water Everywhere

Water is essential for all living creatures, and it is in abundance at Henricus!  Learn how the people of the past relied on nearby water sources to survive and thrive while exploring the beauty of the Dutch Gap Conservation Area.  Program will include a story, interactive tour of our living history site, environmental activities, and a make-and-take craft.

Flora & Fauna

What kinds of plants did the Powhatans use or eat in the 17th century?  How did the English colonists raise farm animals in the New World?  Come see how both cultures depended on a wide variety of plants and animals in their daily lives.  Program will include a story, interactive tour of our living history site, and a make-and-take craft.

Come and learn what breakfast, lunch, and dinner might look like for a Powhatan or an English colonist in the 17th century!  Program will include a story, interactive tour of our re-created 17th century site, and a make-and-take craft.
